this winning piece of mine (hahaha!!!) was posted on men’s health july 2006 – its 15th issue. i was still an avid fan of men’s health mag then. actually, still in my possession are 17 issues starting with the 6th and ending at the 33rd (thinking of selling them). some issues are missing in betweens. the other 3 i lent to a small gym in nova where i used to work-out before. and never had it back. my own fault.
i typed here the content of that letter so you can read it. here it goes,
i’ve been buying and reading your mag since i’ve known it exists. like everyone else, my first contact with men’s health was the US edition. the magazine is really full of useful stuff and i salute you all for that. but what impressed me the most are the features you have on charitable institutions and the men involved in them. this makes men’s health philippines unique. your magazine is concerned not only with the physical well-being of the Filipino men, but what we can do for the good of the whole nation as well. your invitation to be involved in such causes conveys the message that you are truly promoting a fit and good heart to each guy who reads MH philippines. thank you for doing that, and more power!
(talk about flattery! hahaha.)

baz luhrmann said in one of his songs, “Do NOT read beauty magazines, they will only make you feel ugly.” (everybody’s free to wear sunscreen 1999)
time to heed the guy.
